Christmas Food Bags Drive a Success

Wasatch Community Foundation recently conducted a Christmas Food Bags Drive in Heber Valley. The event was extremely successful with over 1,200 bags of food filled for Heber Valley children who are food compromised during the Christmas break. These children were identified through the local schools and food pantries.

Community businesses and individual families in the valley donated a huge amount of food for these bags. The content of each bag weighed about 40 lbs. and contained approximately $50 worth of food.

We had volunteers totaling more than 465 people. Some collected, transported, and organized the food. Others filled bags with food which were then loaded into U-Haul Trucks and transported to three local elementary schools; Midway, JR Smith, and Daniels. The hand off of food bags was done by 230 volunteers. It was a great day!

We feel satisfied with the response from valley residents and business owners. We thank the community for your generosity and participation in this much needed event in Heber Valley.

We are especially grateful to Human Services Pillar Chair Diane Glenn for organizing and conducting this event.
