Tami grew up in Portland, OR where she established a deep-rooted love for trees, rain and clean air! She came to Utah as a BYU freshman, growing in the warmth of people around her. Tami married Jonathan, the happiest Utahan she could find, before she left BYU in 2004 with a Masters degree in Public Administration and BS in Community Health Education. Her earliest jobs as a student were short stints in healthcare administration, but she later pivoted toward local government as a financial analyst with the City of Cedar Hills. Tami enjoyed the ever-changing responsibilities in public service and became assistant to the city manager before stepping away from a career to support her husband and four children through medical training. This adventure took them all over the country; from Chicago to Tucson, back to Oregon and then to Las Vegas.
As a part time grant writer for the Las Vegas Children’s Discovery Museum, Tami developed her passion for children’s programming. Her narratives solicited support for improved access to STEM and the arts for all children in Clark County. She continues this narrative as an active member of her new community here in Midway. When Tami’s youngest child was in his last year of elementary school, she piloted a Battle of the Books club which gained great momentum among students and teachers, and continues to thrive today.
Tami finds purpose in volunteering with organizations that make a community impact-big or small. She is grateful for the chance to work with Wasatch Community Foundation!
