Building Stronger, Healthier Schools Together
For the fifth consecutive year, the Wasatch Community Foundation has proudly partnered with the Wasatch County Health Department and Heber Valley Hospital to recognize local schools through the Healthy School Awards Program — a community-driven initiative designed to support student and staff wellness across Wasatch County.

Modeled after a former national healthy school recognition program, local leaders and educators saw an opportunity to create something more tailored to the unique needs and priorities of Wasatch County schools. The result was a localized program that encourages schools to strengthen wellness efforts using community partnerships, local resources, and school-specific goals.
Participating schools complete a comprehensive scorecard evaluating achievements in areas including school wellness, safety, healthy meals, nutrition initiatives, health education, physical education, physical activity, staff wellness, and family engagement. Schools also collaborate with staff, administration, and community members to establish meaningful goals that foster healthier environments for students and educators alike.
Based on their scores, schools earn recognition levels and receive award funding to support healthy school projects, physical education equipment, and wellness initiatives.
The 2025–26 Healthy School Award recipients include:
- Heber Valley Elementary School — Gold Award recipient, receiving $500 and a commemorative banner.
- Midway Elementary School — Gold Award recipient, receiving $500 and a commemorative banner.
- Daniels Canyon Elementary School — Gold Award recipient, receiving $500 and a commemorative banner.
- Old Mill Elementary School — Silver Award recipient, receiving $350 and a commemorative banner.
The Healthy School Awards continue to highlight the incredible commitment of local educators, administrators, families, and community partners working together to create healthier futures for Wasatch County students.
