Marvin Rust

Director of Finance

Marvin has loved the Heber Valley from his early days driving through the Valley from his home town of Vernal.  The majestic mountains captured his imagination and planted the seed that someday he would live in this beautiful valley.  

Marvin graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors degree in Economics and went on to obtain his Masters degree in Business Administration from California State University in Fullerton.  Marvin and his wife, Kay, married while at BYU. They have three children and fourteen grandchildren. 

His career was spent in the insurance industry with his last fourteen years as a specialized financial planner. In addition to his bachelors and masters degrees, Marvin has earned the following designations:  Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter, Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, Registered Employee Benefits Consultant, Registered Health Underwriter, and Associate in Claims. Marvin is known for his work in establishing a nationwide life annuity agency for the purpose of helping seriously injured people obtain lifetime financial security following a traumatic life changing accident.

Marvin has been involved with the Heber Valley from the day he arrived in 2006.  He immediately joined the Swiss Chorus and was president of that group for a time. He also joined High Valley Arts Foundation as a founding board member and has been a singer with the High Valley Singers and a performer with High Valley Theater (“Annie”, “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, “Fiddler on the Roof”, “Music Man”, “Christmas Carol”, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”). Currently he serves as Technical Director for all of the HVA productions. Marvin also belongs to the Merry Music Makers (senior band sponsored by the Wasatch Senior Center) where he plays several instruments and sings.  He also sits on the Senior Center Board as Secretary and Treasurer. Marvin is a founding board member for the Midway Arts Center Foundation that is in the process of building a community arts center. During tax season, Marvin serves as a tax preparer volunteer for AARP Tax-Aide, serving the senior community in preparing their tax returns. 

Marvin is a beloved volunteer and an asset to the community and the well-being of its residents.
