As we head into another season of growth and change, now is the time to “Be Ready Heber Valley” and take simple, practical steps toward resilience as a community. The Heber Valley Self Reliance program, in partnership with the Wasatch Community Foundation, is now offering FREE community classes designed to help you prepare for the worst while still hoping for the best. These hands-on sessions are open to everyone—so bring your family, invite your neighbors, and join us in building confidence, skills, and connection right here in our valley.

THE GOLDEN HOUR: MANAGING HEART & LUNG CRISES BEFORE HELP ARRIVES CLASS.

Self-reliance isn’t just about food storage—it’s about having the medical confidence to handle a crisis when 911 is still 20 miles away.

Learn lifesaving emergency response skills from RN Elisa Scherzinger. This hands-on class covers allergic reactions, asthma attacks, overdose emergencies, heart attacks, cardiac arrest, CPR, and AED use. Leave with practical knowledge, a quick-reference guide, and the confidence to respond when every second counts.

SANITATION & HYGIENE WITHOUT ELECTRICITY: COMMUNITY PREPAREDNESS  

Learn practical emergency hygiene and sanitation skills, including washing clothes without electricity, conserving and reusing water safely, preventing contamination, and reducing the risk of waterborne illnesses such as E. coli, Giardia, and Hepatitis A. Leave with a simple 72-hour family hygiene plan and the confidence to protect your household during an emergency.
