Board Chair and Health Pillar Chair
Tom retired to the beautiful Heber Valley with his wife Marilyn in 2012. He fell in love with the area and the people after visiting a number of times. The valley affords him the opportunity to do what he loves-- from skiing and snowmobiling in the winter, to jogging, hiking and ATVing in the summer. Tom and his wife also love to travel to the beautiful National Parks that are so abundant in Utah and the neighboring states.
Tom’s home town is Chicago Ridge, a suburb of Chicago. He attended Catholic elementary and high schools before heading off to college. He married his high school sweetheart, and they are still together after 47 years, eight moves, three children and eight grandchildren.
Tom's career spanned 38 years with Johnson & Johnson starting in accounting right out of college, and rising to the executive level of Global Franchise CFO. While working full-time at Johnson & Johnson, Tom attended DePaul University and earned his MBA in Finance.
Tom moved his growing family five times for career opportunities. Many of those moves were to head up the finance group as CFO and Board Member, integrating a start-up or acquisition. They included businesses in Orthopaedics, Cardiovascular Health, and Minimally Invasive Surgery. Those franchises would grow to become major Worldwide Franchises for J&J.
Tom owes his success to his wife and family who supported him through those moves, knowing the difficulty it brings to family life. In business and at home, his success as a leader, mentor, husband and father have come from a secure family life and the experiences afforded to him by J&J.
