New Year, New Opportunities: January Updates & Community Wins!

Way to GO Wasatch Community!

Christmas Food Bags Drive 2024

The Wasatch Community Foundation’s Christmas Food Bags Drive proved to be a monumental success this holiday season, spreading hope and cheer throughout Heber Valley. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, 1,200 bags of food were filled and distributed to children identified as food-compromised during the Christmas break. In addition, all extra food was donated to a local food pantry which will aid in the weekend food bag for the next 3 months – a true Christmas miracle!

Each food bag weighed approximately 20 pounds and contained about $50 worth of food, thoughtfully assembled to provide balanced and nutritious options. The effort brought together the heart of Heber Valley, with support from community businesses, families, and over 400 dedicated volunteers who contributed their time and energy to make this initiative a success.

Volunteers played essential roles, from collecting, transporting, and organizing food donations to filling and distributing the bags. Over 200 volunteers participated in the delivery process, ensuring the food bags reached local children. It was a day of collaboration, compassion, and community spirit.

A Grateful Community

The Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this effort. Your generosity and kindness have made a significant impact on the lives of many children and families this holiday season. We also want to give special recognition to Diann Glenn, our Human Services Pillar Chair, for her outstanding leadership and organization of this event.

Volunteer Highlights

The Christmas Food Bags Drive was a true community effort, requiring countless hands and vehicles to bring it all together. Volunteers helped with tasks such as:

  • Transporting and staging food: Loading trucks, setting up tables, and organizing food for packaging.
  • Packing and distributing: Filling bags, tracking counts, and delivering to schools and local organizations.
  • Clean-up and replenishment: Breaking down boxes, restocking supplies, and ensuring the event space was spotless.

Thank You, Heber Valley!

The success of this event reflects the strength and compassion of Heber Valley residents and businesses. Together, we have shown what’s possible when a community comes together for a shared purpose. Thank you for making this Christmas brighter for so many families.

We look forward to your continued support in future endeavors to serve our neighbors and strengthen our community. Let’s carry this spirit of giving into the New Year and beyond!

A Safe Place for Women & Children

The Children and Women Wasatch Shelter (C.A.W.W.S) is a non-profit organization dedicated to harnessing community strength and raising awareness to support women and children facing domestic violence, homelessness, substance abuse, and other forms of displacement. Domestic violence is often the root cause of these challenges.

Our Mission is Guided by Four Core Principles:

  1. Community Engagement:
We build strong partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and residents to enhance awareness and create a culture of support for survivors.
  2. Education:
We are committed to educating the Wasatch community about domestic violence, homelessness, and substance abuse to foster understanding and improve community health in these areas.
  3. Support Services:
Our shelter offers emergency housing, food, clothing, counseling, and resources to help individuals regain stability and independence.
  4. Empowerment:
We provide a safe and nurturing environment to help victims recover, build resilience, and achieve independence.

We invite members of the Wasatch community, including businesses, to join us in delivering these vital services. Through volunteering, advocacy, or donations, your support will help us to build a shelter for these services and transform the lives of vulnerable women and children in our valley.
